Breakfast – colloquium: PERU Investment Opportunities in the Construction and Real Estate Sector

On May 6th, a breakfast discussion on investment opportunities in the construction and real estate sector was held at IE Business School in Madrid. Our President, Andrés de Arriaga, participated, along with Mr. Elías Plaza, Mr. Bernardo Muñoz, and Mr. Jaime Díaz de Bustamante. Mr. Eugenio Martínez served as moderator.
Peru needs to build new homes for its growing and thriving middle class. According to data from Capeco, there is currently a deficit of 1.9 million homes in Peru. In recent years, housing growth has stagnated, not due to a lack of demand, but because of banks’ stricter mortgage requirements. Demand in the construction sector also extends to offices and shopping centers. Our President emphasized that there is no real estate crisis and asserted that there has been a dramatic increase in consumption. However, he also stressed that the best opportunities are not in Lima, but in the provinces. He further explained that Paracas is one of the areas with the greatest potential. «Peru needs a Tenerife, which it doesn’t yet have.» Demand has increased significantly in this area recently.
