Meeting in Lima with the President of the Xunta of Galicia
Last Monday, February 16, the President of the Xunta, Mr. Alberto Nuñez Feijo, visited Peru as part of his Latin American tour. That same day he held a meeting with Galician businessmen who carry out their activity in Peru; among these businessmen were the President of Grupo Arrivelo, Mr. Andrés de Arriaga and the architect Mr. Luis Collarte.
Among other topics, such as the collaboration agreement on fishing and aquaculture signed with the Government of the country, the creation of a permanent commercial representation in Peru was discussed to facilitate the entry of Galician companies into the Andean country.
The head of the regional government has expressed his conviction that this new initiative will be «a key lever» to strengthen the link that already unites both markets. At the same time, he highlighted the goal of having it operational in the first four months of the year.
According to the Galician president, Peru has successfully oriented its policies towards opening up its economy and is also experiencing «significant growth». As an argument, he alluded to macroeconomic data, which reveal an average GDP growth of 7 percent over the last decade.
In addition to fishing and aquaculture, Feijóo pointed out that Peru has other sectors with opportunities, such as agriculture, food, the sea, industry, housing construction, sanitation and the ICT sector, among others.
